Making Milton Keynes a great place for culture
In December 2022, Milton Keynes City Council, We Made That and Offset Projects collaborated on the opportunity for under 25s to be consulted on the new Cultural Infrastructure Plan for Milton Keynes.
We wanted to hear thoughts and ideas for how to make Milton Keynes a great place for culture. Together we asked:
How can we ensure cultural and creative activity in MK is more inclusive and representative?
What kind of spaces would help support your creative and cultural communities?
What would you like to see happen in the future?
“The amount of public art is good.”
“There are no historical places.”
What is cultural infrastructure?
“Cultural infrastructure refers to the building and spaces in which cultural activities happen. This includes the production (making) and the consumption (showcasing) of culture. These will provide the opportunity to hardwire culture into Milton Keynes by planning for culture in the same way as we plan for housing and transport.” - We Made That
“Culture in MK isn’t one thing.”
“Disability accessibility is bad.”
What we heard
We heard many different and sometimes opposing views. Do you agree with any of them? Get in touch & let us know what you think.

“It’s very diverse in terms of culture - lots of different types of people.”
“The only things you can do is go to the skatepark; no community spaces.”
What now?
This consultation means that under 25s have the opportunity to influence the future of culture in their city. Your views will be taken into account as Milton Keynes City Council begins to draft the new Cultural Infrastructure Plan. Watch this space - we’ll continue to work with the council to make sure your opinions are heard and we’ll be sharing the new plan when it’s ready.
